My Gear

I use a Windows 10 Lenovo ThinkPad laptop as my main machine. My primary phone is a Google Pixel 5a that runs Android 12. I also have a Samsung S9 running Android Pie by way of and Samsung UI and an iPhone 6 running iOS 11. (Gotta know all the mobile platforms.) To track my steps, I wear a Garmin VivoSport + GPS fitness band.

Molly has B.A. in Latin American Studies from NYU and an M.S. in Journalism & Technical Writing from Polytechnic University in Brooklyn (now NYU Tandon Center for Engineering).

A Message from Molly McLaughlin

I’ve always enjoyed breaking down complicated subjects so that my audience can understand them. When I got into tech writing, I realized that many writers had a huge blind spot and made a lot of assumptions about their readers’ technical knowhow. My favorite thing about writing for Lifewire is explaining tech to a general audience. Not only am I helping readers who want to know how to do that one thing, but the process often teaches me something I didn’t know at the start.
